| In early December 1943, Carole moved into the Sunset Plaza Apartments at 1220 Sunset Plaza Drive, just above the Sunset Strip, already inhabited by ex-husband Willis Hunt. Moving back to Hollywood from the Santa Monica beachhouse where she lived as the "wartime wife" of her flyer husband Tommy Wallace probably signaled the beginning of the end of her hopes for the marriage; in January 1944, there was already talk of a split. Carole stayed here until she moved to New York in late 1944. |
